Client-Centered Design

The relationship between the client and the design professional is approached with the understanding that the end product is a substantial financial investment which belongs to the building owner - not the architect! A fundamental point, but a very important one. It is the responsibility of the designer to “facilitate” the process of creating a building structure which accurately meets the owner's needs, wants, and desires.

Cost-Conscious Design

With over twenty-seven years of experience in the construction industry as a design professional--a majority of the years invested in the design-build construction environment, the cost impact of each design decision is always carefully considered. Every design decision is a cost decision. Design and cost decisions are carefully discussed with the building owner to insure the most effective development of their investment.

Consensus-Driven Leadership

Every building project is unique. Projects led by groups of individuals, or that require input from a number of individuals, can present a challenge to making design decisions.  It is our focus to provide leadership which fosters an environment in which all individuals may respectfully offer their ideas and viewpoints. Additionally, everyone’s time is valuable. Design meetings are focused and press toward consensus upon completion of each gathering in order to progress forward at a sensible pace.

Clear Communication & Education

Working as a design professional means working with people who possess all levels of expertise with building design and construction. It is the responsibility of the design professional to listen to the client and to educate the participants appropriately by explaining design options, code impacts, and cost impacts related to their respective building project.  Armed with information, building owners can effectively participate in the design process.
